Cupping Therapy

Cupping is an ancient treatment technique that can help a wide range of conditions.

Using suction cups, the skin and tissue are sucked up into the cup using a pump or fire. Multiple cups may be used at one time. The cups are then left in place for 5-15 minutes. During this time, toxins and waste material from the body's tissues are drawn to the surface under the skin. From here the body can process and dispose of this waste much easier through the peripheral capillary and microcirculation systems.

Cupping is thought to reduce pain, increase blood circulation and blood production systems and activate the immune system. This is a method that can be included as part of acupuncture treatment.

Gua Sha

Gua Sha is another ancient treatment technique, which works in a similar way to cupping.

Gua sha uses a smooth-edged tool to repeatedly glide over the skin above muscle tissue. This breaks down stuck and tight muscle adhesions and brings the waste material to the surface of the skin for removal. Gua sha can be particularly effective with pain caused by tight muscles.
